Margarita Cox, the enigmatic singer-songwriter, has been making waves in the music industry with her soulful and sultry vocals that are as spellbinding as her charm. Born in the San Francisco Bay Area, she has masterfully blended her Greek heritage and urban upbringing to create a unique musical style that reflects her love for world music, the golden era, and musical theater.
Margarita’s journey in the music world is as diverse as her influences. She has graced the stages in the United States and Europe, as well as in China and Australia. Her notable performances include a global online fundraiser for Covid-19 relief, soloing with the National choirs of China and Cuba, and performing at Los Angeles’s Pantages Theater.
In a significant collaboration, Margarita has joined forces with talented R&B singer/songwriter Leah Tysse under the alias ‘The Homegrown Helens’. This partnership promises to deliver a unique blend of acoustic and dance floor tunes, showcasing Margarita’s versatility as an artist.
Her most recent project, “Cine Ellinikon” (Greek Cinema), has brought her to Carnegie Hall, where she performed her remake of “Never on Sunday,” an Oscar-winning song originally recorded by Melina Mercouri in 1960. This project, in collaboration with composer and musician Ioannis Goudelis, has been creating quite a buzz, along with her first music video.
